I don't particularly like Killer Whales they are very cruel when it comes to eating their food always playing with it. Poor Seals :(

I think the only animals that are reasonably intelligent that are ncie for the most part are Elephants, and even they aren't completely infallible. Chimps are real ********, as are Bottlenose dolphins.

I'd have to agree with GF, elephants are seemingly the only intelligent creatures that DON'T have ripping you like a fart in mind. Polar bears are said to be intelligent animals, yet adult males sometimes preform acts of cannibalism upon lost cubs.

Ok so, I won't be "here" for tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday, and most of Monday. Going on a solo trip to NYC. I'm bringing my PSP, however, and both the train and hotel have free wifi, so I'll be able to make progress reports and the like.

And if Gira miraculously appears just to say "HAR HAR ADMIN GONE IMMA RULE DA SITE", you are all authorized to use deadly force in my absence.

Incase anyone's wondering why I haven't been here for the past week or so...

I've been thinknig long and hard about the stuff I have in FRPG, and, quite frankly, I'm starting to hate what I have. Due to my own laziness/business, several plot points that I would have liked to flesh out had to be snipped off and discarded, and from what I look at now, it's just a mess that I want to nuke. I just plainly hate it. I've tried to post in there, but each time, I just end up throwing the towel and getting angry... I, I just want to crumple it all up and throw it away.... sigh...

I agree with Ceratosaurus (man, I gotta think of a nickname for that...). Don't just throw away EVERYTHING; just create someone new so you can try them out.

OK, first of all: TT seems to have overlooked the fact deadly force is present in the form of a certain, hammer wielding, shade-and-trenchcoat-wearing Webmaster :P

Second: Have fun in NYC, TT.

Third: Gira, the best thing about RPGs is you're not limited in your character options. As Cera and G4E said, just scrap your old faction and make a new one, or, if you're not interested in that, make some solo characters [They're the most fun IMO. factions are only good for wars or plots]. Also, don't be afraid to find a posting partner to RP with. A couple of creative players working together can generate more fun than most plots [Septimus and Desrium are a classic example of that :P]

Thank you everyone. I just have so many ideas clouding my mind that I really want to use (Nothing anime... haven't watched any in months.) that just aren't usable with the current layout I have. So, I guess I will be scrapping some stuff and going off in a new direction...

African Elephants are angry, defensive creatures and will happily trample you if they deem it necessary. They are in no way beyond crushing and killing people. An angry elephant is probably one of the scariest things you can encounter in the African brush.
Because of their padded feet, they can even sneak up on you in the dark, then proceed to crush you.

They don't use their tusks or anything gory like that. They will simple walk up, and crush you with their chin, leaning forward and using their whole body weight.

To be honest I find this whole discussion judging the actions of animals by human morals a bit demeaning and arrogant.

The immorality of pain and killing and cruelty are entirely human constructions. It is appropriate for us to react with disgust to the idea of killing animals for fun, and heedless of their pain, but that doesn't mean we should judge animals to the same standards.

For a predatory animal, be it a tiger, a wolf, a snake, even an orca or a dolphin, being able to catch and kill prey is crucial to their survival, they are unlikely to care how they do it, or even how they practice it. It takes every bit of effort and determination they can muster just to live. It is not their responsibility to ensure painless deaths.

You have to remember that pain is simply a mechanism which tells you that something is wrong. You have to remember that fear is just instinctual self preservation.

It is wrong to assume animals experience these sensations the same way as we do, we don't know how they are effected.
It is part of our very being to react to pain the way we do. As co-operative creatures, it makes sense for us to care deeply when a fellow is in distress, and this extends to seeing other creatures in pain as well.

For animals who compete with each other by nature, it would not make sense to experience the same revulsion.

To be disgusted by animals apparent lack of morality is understandable, but to hate and judge them over it is pointless and arrogant.

It's like people having different preferences of colours, or genre's of music. We accept the difference, even if we do not agree.

Got a collar for my sister's cat and yesterday, the cat managed to get it off. The last collar the cat had, she didn't make any effort to get it off, at least any that I saw.

This. ♥

I completely agree. If a predator stopped to "moralize" about it every time they tried to make a kill, they'd never get fed. As I said, it's always been kill or be killed. Why humans see a cow being raised for slaughter and being turned into hamburgers as different from, say, a pack of wolves bringing down an elk, or a cheetah taking down a gazelle, I dunno. It's all the same - killing for sustenance. Difference is we have our food delivered to us via supermarkets and fast food places instead of us having to hunt for it.

Perhaps our species has been sitting on our couches so long, having things easy, that we've lost our edge and see the world out there as somehow brutal and unnatural, despite our ancestors having been part of that same struggle to survive. Most of us couldn't tell the difference between poison ivy and a harmless plant, or see foxglove for being more than just a pretty flower. (Fun fact, foxglove is actually highly toxic, from the roots to the leaves, and to all animals.)

IK: The new collar may have been irritating her neck in some way. Cats don't usually take an immediate dislike to something without a reason, I've found.

And now to be completely random, I can't get back to sleep. Logical solution? Watch a playthrough of a survival horror RPG. :3
