Upon hearing his name, Blade peered intently at Crusher. He was related to Scar? He instantly looked at Scar, the raptor they had searched for, for so long, in a completely different way. He thought he had no family. He had watched them get killed... all of them... but here he was now..... staring at a raptor who was family.

He then realised with slight hatred, that he was also related to Shadow. He growled at this... but his bloodlust inside for his death did not survive. Family or not... Shadow deserved to die.

Shaken from his thoughts, he heard the mighty tyrannosaur next to him speaking.

"Me? Lead the pack?" He growled, peering around

Crusher nodded, then growled "According to Ripper, your the most skilled raptor all round. your good at everything. some of the others may be better than you in certain things, but not so good in others. you are the most well rounded raptor in the pack, and probably the only one who could fight and defeat Shadow alone. Darkness, although he has the strength, is slightly slower than Shadow in attacking, although he's faster when it comes to running".

Scar cocked his head. I'm related to Blade? He looked at Blade, wondered if it was true. If it came from Ripper, it was probably right, but exactly how were they related? Did it matter? Whether or not, I'm certain you'll make a fine leader. Just don't kill Shadow, he's still my brother, and he's still related to you... somehow.

Crusher growled "It's best to try and knock him out. then, i can take him to an area of the island that he'll find good enough to live in. it doesn't have any other raptors in it, so you dont need to worry about him rallying more followers. it'll be far away enough that he'd spend months trying to return to the cave. the path goes through more super predators' territories than any other place on the island, and it's the only path there is"...

Blade growled in agreement. Although he hated the situation, Shadow was Scar's brother. He should honour his new found family's decision. He growled inaudibly, and turned away. He had a lot of responsibilities before him... a kind of which he had never had before.

Crusher growled "Well, Scar. if you need anything, you know where to find me. im going to go searching for Jade, and tell her that your alright. when i find her, i'll make sure she stays at my nest, and you can meet her there. after i do that, im going to hunt down and kill all those Suchos before they make some plan to get rid of me"

Don't worry about it, Crusher, Scar said. I'll find Jade. I need to make sure that she's alright, you should worry about the Suchos. And you have your family to protect, I don't want you worried about my problems. Though the Tyrannosaur hadn't repsonded yet, Scar was already thinking about what to do. Jade had family in the northern area of the island, that would probably be the best place to start...

Crusher growled "Very well, Scar. just remember, if you need any help, im at the nest. he turned around, and walked away, preparing a plan to attack the Suchos...

Blade turned to Scar . "Are you going after Jade then?" He growled "Because if so, would you like us to come with you, or go back to the pack and face Shadow?"

Blade couldn't help but think about the pack. He wondered how many were left. He would not kill Shadow, upon Scar's request. But that did not mean he wouldn't harm him. He needed to be taken from his leader role.

Scar thought about it for a second, then saidI think that you should defeat Shadow, but you can come help the search if you want. Since I'm not the leader of the pack, I can't make you do anything.

Hunter cocked his head in surprise at what had just happened. brave, intelligent pack leader Scar, relinquishing his command over the pack for a life alone? that was VERY out of character. still, he wasn't in a position to speak out, since he wasn't part of the pack, and his father, Crusher, who was seemingly the one who considered Scar his closest friend and ally, accepted it. he followed his father, willing to find out what to do next....he enjoyed going with his father...there was always something interesting going on when he was with him. adventure seemed to follow him wherever he went....

Blade understood. He was the pack leader now. He couldn't rely on others. He had to make the desicions.

"I wish you well you in your search, but i must return to the pack. I'm worried about them. However, RawHide and Exile are welcome to help you on your search"

Alright, Scar said. He looked at Blade, and then almost smiled at how bad the raptor would humiliate Shadow. Good luck on fighting Shadow. Don't hurt him to bad... Anyways, I'm going to find Jade. After I do, then we'll come back to the pack.

Blade growled in agreement and said his goodbyes. He left RawHide, Scar, and Exile and ventured back into the jungle, in the direction of the raptor cave. He needed to think of a plan...

Meanwhile, Exile looked at RawHide and Scar. "Which way?" She growled

It felt good to know that he wasn't the only one going. He remembered the time he'd spent alone wandering the island before he'd met Otalp. It had felt strange to be so isolated, so far away from anyone he knew. It was quite understandable to go insane after years of it, like what had happened to Darkness, who had promptly tried to kill them. A shiver ran up his spine-would he have ended up trying to kill Shadow or begin randomly attacking other raptors?

He turned to Exile and said, Jade has family up in the northern area of the island, Scar growled. I figure that if she couldn't live with our pack anymore, than that's where she'd go.

Rawhide couldn't believe that Scar would give up his position as pack leader, but he didn't protest. It was, after all, Scar's decision. "Then I guess we shall start from there," said Rawhide.

as they were walking, Crusher grunted "Hunter, are you hungry?". Hunter, surprised, growled "Yes i am. how did you know?". Crusher growled "i didn't. im hungry. wanted to know whether we should go after something big, or small". Hunter growled "I think we should go for something big. im starving". Crusher nodded, and said "Follow me. i want to show you something". Crusher walked towards a rather large, dry valley. in the center, was a rocky entrance to a cave. it was about half Hunter's size. at the entrance, was a skeleton. one belonging to a sub adult Carcharadontosaurus. it had several round holes in the skull. Crusher growled "Do you see that? that was my first hiding place after my father was killed. and that Dead Carcha was after me, but couldn't get into the cave because of it's size. i made a chirping sound, which attracted his attention, and when he lowered his head, i bit down as hard as i could. i was lucky enough to have blinded him in one eye. it made him panic, and jerk around, helping me bite in deeper. it was what killed him. he jerked around so much that finally i managed to get a good grip on his skull, bit into it, and kill him. that was my first meal alone. my father killed, my family scattered, i was confused, but i knew that i wouldn't live long staying there. that's when i started exploring the island, and learning all the hiding places there are". Hunter was stunned. the Carcha was twice as big as anything that could possibly fit into the cave. how could his father have been able to take it down....when he was small enough to fit in there. he growled "Wow....that thing was huge in comparison to you back then". Crusher growled "That's what made this such a significant occurance for me. i took on something nearly 3 times my size. it raised my confidence high enough to make sure i didn't live afraid of any other predator. if i was able to take on something several times my size, kill it and survive, i wasn't going to be beaten by any other predator. and now, here i am, the most dominant predator on the island, and also the largest". Hunter thought about it...the irony was unbelievable. at one time, he was the smallest predator, and the bottom of the food chain. now, he was the largest, and most dominant; the top of the food chain. and the whole way, he never feared another predator. he used his sadness and anger to fuel his incredible strength, to crush all the ones who stood in his way, to regain his father's lost title....the true King...the King of Kings...the most feared predator on the island. he was brought from his thoughts when Crusher growled "now that i've shown you a bit of my past, it's time to go get something to eat. let's go". Hunter nodded. he was very interested about his father's complicated and difficult past. he was thankful that he had parents to care for him. the 2 walked off, heading for wherever Crusher had in mind for a good meal...

Blade had soon reached the vicinity of the cave. It had grown dark by this time, but the moon did not shine down with a comforting glow. It was partially hidden by the great mask of grey clouds which had decided to reside beneath it. It would probably rain soon.

He pushed his head from under the great ferns around him, and sniffed the air. The cave had two raptor sentries positioned infront. Luckily, they weren't Shadow's guards. They were actually raptors he knew, and not ones with too keen a scent.

Suddenly, a bark rang out loudly, the sentry raptors immediatly whipped round there heads in the direction of the disturbance. A few growls were exchanged between them, then they set off into the undergrowth to find the source.

Blade watched them with interest as they passed beneath him. Once they had gotten quite far away, he leapt out of the tree and landed on the ground. He was well aware that they would have heard the impact, so he immediatly sprinted towards the cave, and disappeared inside.

Crusher led his son to a small plain, with a large number of herbivores and predators he had never seen before. Crusher growled "This, Hunter, is where i used to hunt. it supplied me with everything i needed before i started exploring. now, im going to teach you how to hunt Therizinosaurus". Hunter was very interested. he growled "What is that?". Crusher growled "It's a herbivore, but far from usual. im not even sure it's a herbivore and not a predator. i didn't watch them long enough to know how their lifestyle is, but i do know one thing; NEVER get in the way of those claws. they're death to any predator that comes near them". Hunter growled "Then how are we going to kill it?". Crusher growled "Dont worry....i'll teach you"....

Crusher waited for a short while, watching quietly, and focusing on the ones that looked weak. no luck. he looked at one that was straying away from the rest of it's group. it was an adult, and was healthy. Crusher growled "That ones coming close. the best way to kill one, is to scare it, or distract it. im going to go around the clearing, and when you see me on the other side, roar at it, but dont expose yourself. it'll look at you, then i'll charge at it, it'll be startled, and turn around. when it does, lunge at it. there's a chance that one of us may be hurt, but if we time it right, it should try and run. THAT'S when we kill it. we attack it from behind". Hunter was surprised by his father's planning skills. usually, the prey he went after wasn't protected, and didn't need planning. Now Hunter knew that just because Crusher didn't use a plan in most of his kills, didn't mean he didn't know how to hunt the more heavily protected ones.

Crusher growled "Get ready. when you see me on the other side, start with the plan". Hunter nodded, and Crusher started to sneak around the clearing, walking as stealthily as he could, even though Therizinosaurs had rather poor hearing; he didn't want to lose his chance at teaching Hunter how to hunt it in a group. later, he'd teach him how to hunt one alone. he arrived on the other side, and Hunter made a weak grunt at the target. it turned at him, and moved forward. then Hunter grunted again, increasing the Therizinosaur's interest in him. once it was completely focused on the spot where it thought the sound was coming from, Crusher came out, slowly at first, then at a slow run, then at an all out charge. the sound made it turn around, and Hunter did the same as his father. the two charged at the Therizinosaurus, and it panicked. it started to run with it's rather strange leg design. it wasn't very fast. Crusher continued chasing it, and Hunter tried to out run it, Crusher roared "Slow down!". at that, Hunter immediately slowed down, just in time to avoid a potentially lethal swipe from the herbivore's massive claws. Crusher lunged, and bit down on it's spine. the bite was fatal. it died, and dropped to the ground and was crushed by Crusher's foot as he slowed down and regained his balance. he growled "Doing what you did can get you killed. im amazed by their balancing abilities, even when running. i saw a Giga nearly the size of Grunt get killed because of that mistake. the Therizinosaur stabbed it in the stomach, and ripped it open. and it continued to run, while the Giga was on the ground in extreme pain, roaring as loud as it could and dying when a Carcharadontosaurus came to the scene, hungry and looking for an easy meal". Hunter looked at his father in awe....a Giga his size, killed by that claw handed herbivore. Crusher growled "now...let's eat". the 2 ripped into the Therizinosaur's hide hungrily, starving and tired.....

Exile, Rawhide and Scar were making good progress when the rain began. The moon was gone, blocked out by the clouds, and without it Scar could barely see. Though he couldn't tell if the others were getting tired, he knew he was. He turned to the others and asked, Do you think we should find a place to sleep for the night?
