The smell of fresh water was getting stronger, and the pale tiger-striped raptor knew she was closing in. Her noisy stumble had made her even more edgy - now the raucous squawking of an unfamiliar bird made her jump. Easy, Rose...just a bird. A noisy bird, but still just a feathered, winged annoyance, she tried to reassure herself. The dirt was getting a bit damper underfoot, making her feel optimistic...until she felt a sudden dip in front of her, and a cool breeze that smelled fresher than any she'd scented in a while reached her. It seemed she'd found what she'd been looking for. But she soon found, by taking a small, tentative step forward, that the bank was steep and slippery. Rose paced back and forth, frustrated. The water she needed was there, almost close enough to touch, but she couldn't get to it; one misstep on that bank would send her sliding into the water, where crocodiles might lie in wait. If only she could see! There might be a way down right under her nose, but like this she'd never find it before she made a fatal mistake.

Aircrest's eyes caught sight of what probably made the noise he heard. A raptor. It looked small, young. A loner? Probably. It seemed so long ago that, he too was around that size darting across Isla Sorna. He turned away, resting on his branch. He wouldnt bother a fellow loner

Rose gasped as she felt her foot slip. suddenly she was falling again. She cringed, closing her eyes and bracing herself for the splash. The water was an icy shock, and she cried out in surprise as she hit it. Water filled her mouth and she coughed, spitting it out reflexively even though she desperately needed the drink. Awkwardly she made her way back to the bank, following the smell of mud, and tried climbing out. She cursed herself, wondering how she could have made such a mistake. Idiot! I need to pay more attention than that if I'm going to stay alive! She shivered, suddenly not sure if she could survive in this place.

a loud rustle was heard as Hellfire hit a tree branch in a particularly thick-leaved tree, intentionally getting the blind Raptor's attention. "Well well....Isn't this a pleasant surprise?" hissed the Deinonychus, genuinely pleased to come across this particular raptor, though he wasn't sure his tone would describe that exact feeling for the situation...he walked along a tree branch, stopping halfway along the thick extension, watching down on the Raptor...

Rose shook herself as she managed to find a safe spot, scattering the water that had been streaming from her skin. Hearing the disturbance and the voice, her head swiveled towards the speaker. "I know that voice," she growled, half to herself.

"Glad you remember....though a shame the memory is as...unpleasant as it was. Do i have the benefit of hoping you've forgotten the incident?" hissed Hellfire, leaping off the branch, landing with a thump not far from the Raptor...

Another thump sounded off as Aircrest found another perch in the tree, moving when he heard the splash. At first he thought the younger raptor needed help, from how it was thrashing, but had given up haste when it had grabbed onto the bank. "How is falling into running water ever a pleasant suprise? By accident, I mean..." The green raptor growled, cocking his head, remembering what happened last time he and Hellfire were at an oasis...

"I...remember some of it..." Rose growled uncertainly, turning her head as the second raptor arrived.

"That's not the surprise, Aircrest" hissed Hellfire. "The young raptor here..happens to be one of me....former victims...from back when i was...you know...crazy?" he explained. "Not blinding her. I can't recall what caused that, but that wasn't my doing" he added quickly, not wanting Aircrest to think that he had ruined the Raptor's life so badly as blinding her would have caused...

"Ah. Well atleast I wasnt the only one you were clawing after" Aircrest growled, trying to lighten the mood. "Whats your name?" He said, glancing down to the raptor below...

"My name is...Rose," the young female growled, having followed the conversation quietly. She didn't even remember the name of the raptor who had left her sightless. But she remembered the agony.

"You alright, Rose?" Aircrest began, about to ask "Why's a blind raptor wandering around alone" but decided against it. Normally he'd speak what ever was on his mind, but he considered the female's feelings. Bad enough she was blind and fallen into the water, she didnt need him criticizing her

"Ah...a fellow Lone Wolf. I had a feeling you weren't an average loner...in that case, maybe i'll have an assistant to help teach the pack the things they didn't get to learn themselves" hissed Fatalis. glancing at Rhojis, he smiled. "Give it time...all of you can do what Renegade and I can do....it just takes guts...and technique....the former moreso than the latter" he growled reassuringly. "It intrigues me though. Most Lone Wolves don't like being in groups. Kinda makes you think....doesn't it? how many more of us are actually looking for or starting packs?" he hissed as he glanced back at Renegade...

"Rose" growled Hellfire thoughtfully. "....Rose" he repeated, remembering. "Yes. Now i remember the name....such a shame such foul events accompany that memory...My apologies, Rose, for the past. It discomforts me to think i was capable of the things i commited back then..." he growled finally, his tone a light rumble, fitting of a creature of his scale..not as deep as those of larger creatures such as Ceratosaurs, Rexes or Carnotaurs, and yet, notably deeper than that of Raptors and other similar sized predators...

"Yes, I'm okay," Rose growled, nodding. She gave herself another shake, not liking the moisture that clung to her. She turned her head yet again as the first raptor spoke...his name was Hellfire, she remembered suddenly. "You just said you were...crazy...not yourself. I don't think you should be blamed for what you did."

"Good to hear you've been forgiven" Aircrest growled to Hellfire. He stared off blankly, thinking of what he said. Forgiveness. It brought up a longing in him, but he tried to ignore it.

"It'sss not that I don't like mossst groups... it'sss that mossst groupsss don't like me," Renegade hissed with a small chuckle. "From what I've ssseen and heard with my own two eyes and ears, mossst other lone wolvesss also don't ssseem to hate the group lifestyle for no reason. They just ssseem to have some biasss towards it, due to previousss bad relationsss or experiencesss with a pack of their own; they end up living by themssselves, justifying leaving their pack in any way they can, until it escalates up to a point where they blindly hate it..."
Renegade trailed off abruptly. He was sure that was the most he'd ever said in a single sentence...

"Many simply like the freedom of life as a Lone Wolf. that was my incentive to keep into a lifestyle like that instead of joining or starting a pack ages ago. Alone, you only need to worry about food, water, and keeping out of the claws and jaws of other predators....but a selfish lifestyle like that eventually gets to you" hissed Fatalis...

Hellfire sighed, happy the Raptor held no ill will towards him. "Some would argue that i didn't deserve forgiveness" he hissed. Ripper, to his knowledge, was one potential candidate for that opinion...

Crusher moved further north, going along the Eastern side of what was once Central Park...

At first, Renegade didn't say anything in response. He simply looked meekly down at his own claws, his tail lowering slightly to keep him balanced on the swaying tree branch, which was a small one and was beginning to bend slightly under his weight. Upon hearing a small but sharp crack, he stepped closer to the base of the branch to keep it from breaking off completely.
Finally responding, Renegade hissed, "I'm ssstill not sssure I want to abandon the lifessstyle just yet," not looking at any of the other raptors...

The Deinonychus' words shocked the raptor back to reality. The thought of being hated despite what ever attempt to redeem yourself. The raptor was suddenly overwhelmed by guilt, insecurity and confusion, falling silent as a sudden wave of memories hit him. He was left frozen, staring blankly into the running water below, taking ragged breaths.

"We're all fighting for the same thing now; to survive in this harsh new world. It's better to forgive the wrongs done to us, or to avoid the ones who committed them, than to go on holding grudges," Rose growled solemnly.
