Now things get interesting, thought Redtalon as the predator lunged at him. He suddenly shot forward with incredible acceleration. He brushed against the Ceratosaur as he charged, though he attempted no hostile action. He then turned and stood behind the fallen carcass, he may be smaller but he was certainly faster and he was incredibly confident, completely upstaging the ceratosaur's intimidation tactic. The action was from impulse, a highly dangerous impulse and might have cost Redtalon's life, if this didn't shatter the rival's confidence... this might get bloody.

Thorn Jaw turned then staring at the Utah-raptor with one hate filled eye. So you think you can unnerve me huh? Thorn Jaw thinks rushing forward roaring even louder! The ceratosaur stops roaring and instead begins slamming his jaws closed, making a "popping" sound. Thorn Jaw continues his intimidation attempts for he doesn't wish for unnecessary harm to himself. Rushing forward once more Thorn Jaw roars louder than before, its his final warning...

Not too far away from the noise, a curious Crusher listened. He was hungry, and where there were fights, there was usually a winner, a loser and a reason for the fight. And the most common reasons for fights on this island? food and territory. His powerful sense of smell confirmed that in this case, it was the former. Pulled by his hunger and curiosity combined, the young Rex headed towards the source of the racket...

Fatalis meanwhile, was already long gone. He had left before dawn, off to explore once more. He had learned Steeltalon's den's location for future visits, but he had seen himself off before his presence turned into an inconvenience. So now he was once again alone, roaming the vast expanses of Sorna's grassy plains, dense jungles, thick swamps and deep caverns. If he was lucky, he'd find hints regarding the location of this 'Riptide's pack were. Mutants were quite rare on the island. Many of the more isolated creatures didn't even know they existed. He only knew because he had encountered a trio of them once, several months ago, and learned that his father was one. While the three Raptors he encountered hadn't been entirely 'there', with their bickering over the true colour of clouds and the taste of air, they hadn't had the vicious streak Riptide and his comrades seemed to have. All the better for me to have fun with thought the black and grey Raptor with a smirk...

Redtalon stared back with a look of utter disinterest, in his head however he was tense. That didn't work, he thought franticly, he wasn't willing to get into a fight with this much larger predator which was built for head-on confrontation. For several seconds their was pause in any activity between the two in this akward confrontation. Then suddenly Redtalon pulled a long reptilian grin, both of amusement and anger. "I am impressed, not too many predators would stand up to that act of dominance i pulled," growled Redtalon. "The meal is yours," he continued as he turned to casually leave. After a few steps he turned his head back around and hissed ominously: "Enjoy it while you can," and with that he skulked off along the game track in search of prey.

Thorn Jaw growled deeply in his throat not trusting the Utah-raptor one bit. Thorn stares off in the direction the raptor left in until he felt the threat had passed, returning to his meal Thorn Jaw sinks his teeth back into the flesh, beginning to gorge once more. While in his moment of triumph the ceratosaurs mind shifts back to the recent confrontation. I'm not out of danger yet, this prey will inevitably attracted larger and more dangerous carnivores... Thorn Jaw thinks swallowing a large chunk of flesh. He thinks thoroughly, thinking of ways he could protect his carcass from unwanted visitors. The ceratosaur continues his feast, keeping his senses sharp. The Plains have taught him something, that he must keep his head on a swivel lest he become the meal of another...

The raptor landed on a low hanging branch in a crouch, looking down at a medium sized pond that sprawled out below him. A few yards from it far side, the jungle floor gave way to black water with lily pads and wild aquatic grasses poking up from its deceivingly calm surface. The inland marsh where the ground level dipped below that of the sea and the rivers running from the ocean flooded the land, the area was home to all sorts of strange and deadly creatures lurking in what could be shallows or depths. It was so hard to tell looking down into the dark water from above. Aircrest dropped down to the edge of the pond and proceeded to drink from it. Afterwards, he stared into it at his wavering and rippling reflection, thinking about all the things he said the previous day. He had a sinking feeling as guilt made itself known to him, having said many hurtful things be it on purpose or by accident. "Ugh. Was I too tired to deal with this yesterday...?" he lamented before inhaling deeply. In an instant he closed his eyes and shoved his head into the water, thrashing it about for a short while before pulling out gasping for breath. With his head cleared and his drowsiness discarded, the green and black raptor put his nose to the air and took in the scents. "Let see if I'll be eating today..." he mused as he examined the smells wafting in the breeze. The scent of a kill made no more than a few days ago caught his attention, the smell of an Edmontosaurus, drifting out from deeper within the marsh. "Naturally" Aircrest growled to himself. "I'm sure that Edmontosaur didn't die because it wandered into hungry jaws waiting in the water..." he continued as he considered his options. He was certain of his ability to outrun danger, but he did not know how to swim at all. The marshland and swamps were treacherous domain for him... but there was food to be had; an Edmontosaur could keep him fed for days assuming there was enough meat still left on the carcass. Taking the chance, Aircrest took to the trees once again and made his way over the murky water through the treetops...

The dark raptor could not believe what he was hearing. After getting separated from his childhood friend, the raptor had, unfortunately, run into an old...acquaintance. To even use such a word to describe his relationship with the raptor in front of him was painful and inaccurate. Eclipse was a raptor four times his senior, whose reputation he could still recall with disgust from his days in the family pack. The female had, like many others, attempted to assume leadership of the pack. And again like all the others, failed. Her leadership was noteworthy in demonstrating how truly self-centered the raptor was, however. Not only had he found this remnant of his past, but now she told him that the pack had survived, at least partly. Darkness knew that not all had perished that day, but it seemed as if they abandoned each other completely.

"Would I lie to you?" Eclipse purred, the raptor drinking in the confusion on the dark raptor's features. Darkness gave her a serious look. "So you do remember me. I'm flattered."

"Enough. Where are they? How did they survive? Who is left?" Darkness growled sternly, knowing Eclipse's nature well enough to stay on topic. The other raptor seemed disappointed.

"I could show you. I think I owe you that much, abandoning you all just before that terrible incident..." Eclipse responded with mock concern. Despite her tendency to lie and deceive, Darkness was inclined to accept the offer. He figured his turmoil over the incident would be payment enough for her to stay true to her word.

"After you, then," Darkness growled, gesturing with a clawed hand. Eclipse bowed dramatically before trotting off, the dark raptor following close behind.

Eating his fill of stego meat Thorn Jaw wanders back to the small stand of trees he had rushed out of, seeing it as his only cover. On his way there he decides that the carcass was worth defending and that he would rest facing the carcass. Making his way in between the trees Thorn Jaw turns to face in the direction of the carcass, to his relief he could see it easily from where he was. Yawning with fatigue more than actual sleepiness, Thorn Jaw lays his large form down. He watches the carcass prepared to use his surprising speed to defend his carcass from would be attackers. His only hopes were that the larger carnivores of Isla Sorna would continue to rest...

It wasn't long before Crusher was at the scene of the recent conflict. watching from the trees, he could see a stegosaur carcass laying in the stained grass on the edge of the plains, seemingly abandoned. He knew better, though. The scents of Utahraptor and Ceratosaur lingered at the scene, the latter stronger and more recent than the former. Scanning the treeline carefully, he soon spotted the source; a large male Ceratosaur. It's position made it difficult to see what, if any injuries it had sustained fighting the Utahraptor for the kill. But then, it'd be foolish to depend purely on an opponent's injuries in such a situation. The young Rex moved forward towards the kill slowly. With size came strength, but also a loss in speed and agility; things Crusher currently had in excess...

Thorn Jaw's keen eyes soon spot a young tyrannosaur, rising to his full height the ceratosaur prepares to assert himself. Stepping out from the tree line Thorn Jaw roars lowly, not sure if the young one was alone. Never has he challenged a rex, but the circumstances seem to be in his favor. Coming to a halt five feet from the carcass Thorn Jaw continues his cautious stride, not wanting to be caught by the young tyrannosaur's parents. Growling deeply, Thorn Jaw try's to intimidate, hoping for his ploy to work. He does not wish to fight the young tyrannosaur for he would like to sustain any sort of injury. Injury means less success at hunting, and that would undoubtedly lead to his demise. Watching the Tyrannosaur, Thorn Jaw knows not to underestimate this young one, for it may not be as large, but he new of its dangerous jaws. Stepping up, putting one clawed foot firmly on the stego's mid section Thorn Jaw looses one territorial roar!

Crusher paid the angry predator no mind, slowing his approach as he began to move to one side, beginning a wide circle around the predator, eyes narrowed and fangs bared, jaws held open slightly, glistening in the morning light. It was obvious in the predator's stance, pose and expression that he did not fear the larger predator, in spite of the size advantage...

The tyrannosaurs lack of fear unnerves Thorn Jaw, smaller carnivores have never challenged him so. Well I guess this is what makes them kings... Thorn Jaw thinks grumbling, questioning the outcome of this altercation. Thinking thoroughly, Thorn Jaw decides the risk is far to great, with a annoyed roar Thorn Jaw retreats...

Crusher approached the kill slowly, his shimmering yellow eyes locked on the predator as it backed away, retreating, making sure the horned carnivore never left his sights, its very emotions picked up by the grey Tyrannosaur's powerful sense of smell, the young Rex not taking the risk of feeding until he was sure the Ceratosaur was far enough away that it wasn't an immediate threat...

Thorn Jaw moves off exploring the plains even further, noting that there are more predators out here than there were within the forest. Not only were there more carnivores but they were bigger and bolder than the ones residing in the forest. Continuing through the plains the brown-spotted ceratosaur notices something he has been searching for since his incident with the Tarbosaurus, a lake. Growling in pleasure, Thorn Jaw quickens his pace so he may wash down his recent meal of stegosaurus...

Stoneclaw and Howler had stayed the night with Beryl and his children in the cave, with Stoneclaw making the excuse of, "Just trying to make sure you're safe is all!" The two brothers had fallen asleep at the mouth of the cave, content to sleep the morning away as well...

The Albinos had returned to the camp, having found no trace of the Loner Brighteyes had mentioned. However, they weren't about to give up. Sharpclaw knew someone in this jungle could provide them with information. They just needed to find them soon...

Nighteye and the Daycrawlers had moved back into the forest during the night, setting up a plan near the borders of Liliensternus territory. They had managed to scout out some of the area that night, but did not risk delving too deeply. They could kill a Liliensternus except through sheer numbers, and an entire pack was simply too much to handle. Instead, they would have their revenge in a more subtle way: ruining the larger predators' future...

Aircrest seemed to fly as he shot through the trees, landing on the broad side of branches with one clawed foot and in a striding movement, launched himself off to the next, landing on it and running along the limb before jumping over the still waters below. Leaves shaken from their place spun through the air before coming to a soft stop on the water's surface, thin rippling lines spreading across the surface. Suddenly, by an unseen force the leaves were scattered apart as a disturbance moved just underneath the murk, a creature unknown investigating by staring up through the lens of the water.

The dimly lit region did not have as much variety of noise found in the forested areas on the island. Few birds made any notable calls and songs. Instead, insect chirping and patterned clicking provided ambiance, as did the croaking of frogs and a few other animals that were definitely not frogs. These sounds were deep and almost gurgling in nature, accompanied by air bubbles near their source. Aside from that, growling, hissing and snarling were common along with splashing water.

The green raptor was able to spot Koolasuchus and several other of the flat, arrow headed amphibians as he pursued the scent, most laying as still as rocks in the water with their black eyes above the water, either taken by the rare sight of a raptor in the swamp or waiting for it to fall into their aquatic realm. Other small creatures took refuge on logs floating idly on the murky pools, the wood rotting and covered in fungus while others took to the nooks and crevices of mangrove roots. On the patches of muddy land, the large sail-backed Platyhystrix made their stake, along with many other swamp dwellers, even the modern day crocodiles had a niche in the jumbled ecology of the primeval marsh...

The ceratosaur makes his way to the waters edge, cautiously lowering his massive head. Knowing that the waterways of Isla Sorna are filled with many sea beasts his caution has doubled. Ever since Thorn Jaw was young he had a fear of the water, it may have surfaced itself the first time he witnessed a hunting ceratosaur be swept out into deeper water. It roared in fear from an unseen force before its head had been dragged under the water, silenced for all eternity. Thorn Jaw has never trusted the water, but that one event had caused his adrenaline to pump. Stepping forward Thorn Jaw takes his fill of the life giving liquid. Stepping back after his thirst was quenched, Thorn Jaw searches for a place to digest his meal...

Redtalon came over a slight hill back towards the carcass noticing the new owner. He had traveled down the game trail but the smell of blood and roars had otherwise scared or riled all the herbivores and made getting a meal difficult. When Redtalon got closer he remembered the rex from their last meeting. When he got within a few feet he stopped, he made sure he was far enough to make a quick escape in case he wasn't friendly with food around. "I'm losing my edge, I pulled something twice as flashy and the ceratosaur just got mad at me," Redtalon hissed to Crusher in amusment. "Now another funny coincedence is that we meet again... are you following me?" Redtalon made a snickering noise after his last comment, showing no sense of hostility.

Thorn Jaw soon leaves the danger filled lake looking for a place to rest, striding through the tall grass of the open plains Thorn Jaw catches a scent. Inhaling the odor Thorn Jaw can determine its the Utah-Raptor from before. Growling deeply, the ceratosaur moves off angered by the returning raptor...

Tracking the scent led the green and black raptor to the Edmontosaur body that was laying on its side, leaving a depression in the muddy ground where it died. Around it were several foot prints, those of its herd and those of a multitude of carnivores that paid the grazer's deathbed a visit. The cause of death was unknown to Aircrest, its body being mutilated viciously by several predators. Its feet, flank and chest cavity were torn apart and its innards stripped away quickly, meaning initial injuries were impossible to find. Even then, Aircrest had a feeling the herbivore had a run in with the creatures of the swamp water- after all, it had died right near the edge of the murky green lake. Any of the amphibious predators could have brought this creature down and any of them could strike while the young adult raptor scrounged at the remaining flesh on the corpse. Still, feeling more secure knowing there was actual ground around the body, Aircrest hopped down from the tree and landed with a thump on the Edmontosaurus' side. He snapped his jaws onto what ever he could bite and tear off, wanting to eat as much as he can quickly...
