"Ah, but my dear Discord, you can only ever be at one place at one time, and see one perspective. Whereas I....Well, let's just say I'm quite a bit more capable of gathering convenient information" rumbled Arashi with a chuckle. "You're forgiven for whatever doubts you have. In time, you will learn that it is to your benefit to associate with me" he added, the Dragon far above swerving as he seemed to change direction, descending from above towards the ground below, his tiny speck of a silhouette slowly growing as he slowly came within view of the humans below...

Septimus chuckled, amused at the outlook. "Oh, if only I had such power. Perhaps then I could finally find a definitive answer to which came first; the chicken or the egg" joked the Dragon as he walked, wondering where this 'Syria' was and what kind of information he was likely to glean from her...

Tacitus and Makkus were quick to leave the pub, already tracing their steps into the village mentally to see if they had missed anything. They would need to search the village's perimeter...

"Oh, don't worry. I'm sure she'll behave" said Andruil with a chuckle as he reached into his satchel, separating four large bags of gold from the number he carried, each carrying 50 pieces, before reaching into the one set aside in a separate pocket from the rest; his regular one. drawing 15 pieces from it, he set them in one of the four larger bags, preparing the payment for when Henric was done...

Though aware of Arashi getting closer, Discord made no motion to suggest it. "No skin off my nose either way. Good to know that SOME dragons are reasonable..."

Smaug growled irritated at Discord, but with the fiery eyeballs orbiting him, and Byakuren's energy shield ready to fire at him if he tried anything, he simply shook his head to try and get Discord off. "Thsoe who try to steal MY treasure deserve no mercy from me!" Smaug snapped.

"I beg your pardon Smaug, but there is no way Djinn could have stolen your treasure. She was with me the whole time, and we were patroling the city the day before yesterday, and yesterday we were watching what would have been an execution. She is innocent." Guame testified, the old beastman's gaze shifting heavenward, his eyes narrowing...

"LIES, ABSOLUTE LIES!" Smaug snapped back, eyes wild with fury. "Your talk is but lies and deceit! When I awoke from my slumber yesterday, my goblet was gone. What the young woman informed me about the culprit and-"

" Wait... What young woman?" Byakuren asked, cutting him off. She was beginning to think there was something fishy about this whole ordeal...

Discord's response to Smaug's outburst was to pantomime talking with his hand, mouthing nonsense with a goofy look on his face, and trying hard not to laugh...

As Myrn resumed shooting Thalion uncomfortable sidelong glances, Henrik began brushing the hippogriff, working his way from his gray-feathered neck to his powerful equine legs, the drarf giving the beast's halter a gentle downward tug to get him to bend his front legs in what looked like a half-kneel so he could better reach the big creature's back. "Nice addition teh Thalion's trainin'. Since 'e's so big, Ah taught 'im how teh kneel. 'S useful fer when yeh've got heavy packs teh hook onteh 'is harness. Oh, and jus' a sugges'ion; 'f Ah were you, Ah'd rig 'im up with the modul'er harness, unless yer plannin teh carry somethin' too big teh fit in one o' the packs. That way yeh only have teh lift a quart'r o' the load at a time," the dwarf suggested as he worked. Giving the halter an upward tug, instructing Thalion to stand up again, the drawf finished up his cleaning by feeling around in one of mis many pockets for a moment, pulling out a small pick, and removing any left over dirt clods from the hippogriff's plate-sized hooves. When he was finished, he moved on to Myrn, who stood obediantly motionless until he finally placed the brush and hoof pick back on the supply shelf and removed a pair of identical leather halters from the wall. "These flight halters shoul' do nicely. Best quali'y Ah've got. Thalion needs a size larger..." He stretched up, pulling one down from the uppermost peg row, then walked back to Sulrana, untying her and removing her rope halter, replacing it with the leather one and clipping on a set of reigns, flipping them up and over her head. "Now all she needs is 'er saddle..."

"Wouldn't place any bets on that, Septimus. In the world we live in, what is a chicken to a dragon and a man to an elf? All I know is that somehow we're all livin' together and that's good enough for me. Too many questions about things we aren't meant to understand and our 'eads'll hurt, they will" Urlox replied, rubbing his temples as if to emphasize his point.

By now the two were nearing the inner city where the main street gave way to scores more, tall buildings of quality lumber towering above the dragon in all directions. However, even though the cluster of homes and shops might have been disorienting at first, all one had to do was look directly down the broad road from which all others were derived, down the gentle incline where the land dipped towards the boardwalk at the edge of the Daaven lake. No matter what entrance you came through, once on the main road, a traveler can get their bearings just by getting a glance at the lake, the waters of which glimmered in the sunlight in between the wooden buildings. It was serene sight, from the crowded city there was nothing but openness around the lake...

Bard's heavy footsteps thumped against the planks of the walkway as he stalked away from the pub, obviously upset with his encounter. He grumbled and mumbled to himself but stopped dead in his tracks when he felt an unnatural chill in the air. This was no sea breeze, but an instantaneous flash of cold that made Bard wonder if he just saw his breath escape him in a white smoke. He looked around, noting that he was at the village edge where the incense and purifying herbs were sparsely dispersed and he quickly felt dread creeping up from within him. Could it be that the village's efforts had lessened the effect of the malicious energies at work? That the terrible plague that befell Furosta could have been something worse? The possibility of what laid beyond the protection of sage and candlelight terrified the fisherman, and he would have hurried back to his hut if it were not for the Archknight and Vindicator...

"Immortality gives you plenty of time to think about it" rumbled Septimus with a chuckle as he walked down the main street, his cyan eyes glancing over the shimmering liquid mirror that was the Daaven lake. He would have to see what fish he could catch there at a later time. For now though, he had other things on his mind. "Speaking of knowledge, where can we find this 'Syria'? I'm interested in seeing what she has to offer" he growled inquiringly...

The two Council members stopped dead in their tracks as they sensed the onset of the malevolent aura of whatever had caused the plague. "....A demon of pestilence. Bard, head for the hospital and wait there. We will take it from here" said Tacitus as he eyed the fisherman, drawing his claymore as his eyes glowed, Makkus drawing his staff and his sword, both weapons shimmering with arcane energy...

Just over a hundred feet above the Dione and her comrades, Arashi flew past, the Dragon silent though obviously aware and attentive to their actions, electricity crackling lightly in his mane as he circled overhead...

"Excellent. I should be back in about half an hour, maybe a bit more. I'll take care of my other errands in the city and then come by to pick up and pay for the Gryphons" said Andruil with a smile, pleased that the deal was done and everything prepared. As much as he doubted he'd be swindled by the Dwarf if he paid now and picked up the Gryphons later, he still took the precaution. turning away from the stables, he headed back to the inn in order to pick up Arsenic and Vix, planning to head to the blacksmith to pick up their equipment...

"Yeathur Inn" Urlox replied, sliding himself off Septimus' shoulders and landing with a thump at his side. "We passed it but not by much. Come along, it's not going to be a long walk"

And indeed it wasn't, for it was only mere minutes before the captain of the guard stood on the street before the large building of four floors. He walked up the stairs to the porch, glancing at the dark blue Frondfoot, Perioul, that was curled up several feet to the left of the inn's double doors. A single orange eye was locked on Urlox as he knocked on the door and waited for the inn keeper's reply...

Bard nodded a bit too eagerly and headed back the way he came, moving a brisk pace past the hunters of the supernatural. Almost as if the presence was aware of Tacitus and his associate, another chill passed through the air, though it lingered, forming a trail of iciness that led out of the village to a compound just barely visible in the forest edge. A wooden fence ran along its perimeter and thick stakes poking up from over it revealed its purpose: a graveyard...

Back at the inn, Tetto'eko was taking full advantage of the respite he had to recuperate. He was used to traveling by this point, but he was still an old Skink. The combination of long walks and extensive magic use had tired him, and the quickest way to regain his energy was simple meditation. Even underground as he was, the Priest was capable of regenerating his astrological power...

As Arasi sailed overhead, the soldiers were getting restless and uneasy. They had just fought one dragon, and the prospect of fighting another one was something they DIDN'T want in the sightest. Byakuren also looked up, and saw Arashi. This new dragon was quite abit diffrent than Smaug, who was getting increasingly irritated at Discord.

"Discord, two things real quick... One, is that dragon flying above us a friend of yours? and two, could you please get off of Smaug's head? I think he's already angry enough." Byakuren said, prompting Djinn to chuckle with laughter, and a few other soldiers to also nervously chuckle. Even with this going on, Smaug sealed his lips. He wouldn't give away any information until this... THING... was off his head...

Discord looked up at Arashi, and shrugged. "No clue," he lied. The chimera hopped off of Smaug's head, tickling the tip of the dragon's nose with his furry tail-tip as he did so...

A rumbling growl echoed over the soldiers as Arashi circled above, electricity crackling across his form, the Dragon entertained by their discomfort. Deciding to push things up a notch, he opened his jaws, unleashing a bolt of lightning, which hit the ground only a metre off from Smaug's tail, the surroundings scorched black by the intensity of the heat generated by the electrical charge, the boom over head as it was unleashed no weaker than a genuine thunderclap...

As Andruil walked into the inn, he was greeted by the sound of banging. To one side of the inn, the Innkeeper was hammering on a door. "Damn it Urist! Yer a plump 'elmet salesman! Not a bloody mason! stop feckin' chisellin' things into mah kitchen wall!" yelled the Innkeeper furiously. "NEVA!" responded a muffled voice behind the door. Andruil was about to walk over to help, when he noticed the drunkards from earlier that day still littering the floor around the main hall. There was one odd complication however. Most of them were partially, if not totally stripped of their belongings. "This place is insane" muttered the knight as he pressed his thumb and middle fingers against his temples, his palm pressed against his forehead as he shook his head in disbelief. Walking over to the Innkeeper, he regained his composure. "Need a hand?" he inquired. "Aye. that bloody idiot's carving things into my wall, an' 'es locked 'imself in!" responded the disgruntled Dwarf, before pounding the door once more. "URIST! OUT!". "NEVA!" responded Urist behind the door. "Do you have a problem with me breaking down the door?" asked Andruil. "Whatever it takes! Jus' get tha' lunatic outta ma kitchen!" responded the Innkeeper, Andruil nodding. Taking a step back to give himself the room, he lifted a foot, throwing his weight against the door with one viciously powerful kick, the lock splintering as the door swung inwards, the Dwarf beyond the door still chiselling away, the image on the wall difficult to make out at first. The Innkeeper ran in, tackling Urist to the ground. "BEHOLD! THE FORGOTTEN BEAST! DUSAK GULGUNNUGLUS, THE THREE EYED ***!" ranted the pinned Dwarf. "What the bloody-" muttered the Innkeeper as he stared at the image. The figure was indeed, a 3 eyed ***, with thin, demonic wings, walking on 6 hoofed feet, the strange beast unleashing a jet of flames on a small figure that seemed to be a Dwarf, with a fortress in the background and piles of circular shapes that looked much like the cheese the Dwarves were eating alongside their ales the previous evening. "It will descend upon Dwarfkind, and NONE will be able to oppose it!" ranted the Dwarf. Andruil, deciding it was probably a good idea to finish his work here and leave before the madness began to affect him, excused himself, leaving the Innkeeper to deal with the mad Dwarf, and heading upstairs. Opening the door, he walked in, glancing around at the others in the room. Tetto'eko was meditating, and Vix seemed preoccupied with her kitten. Arsenic however, was nowhere to be seen. "You ready to pick up your new weapons, Vix?" he asked...

Having finally reached the inn, Septimus lowered his head slightly, the Dragon's sizeable skull held just over Urlox's shoulder, making it look, were it not for the immense size, that Septimus' head was sprouting from the man's shoulder. "Think she'd be concerned seeing a Dragon?" inquired Septimus, his tone partially amused, as though the odd appearance of the duo was intended...

The Archknight's eyes glared as runes along the length of his blade flashed, the Vindicator's staff shimmering, light pulsing between the cracks and runes of the dark weapon as the two headed forward towards the cemetary, preparing to face the Demon beyond...

At Septimus' appearance the Frondfoot lizard snapped to his feet, his five talon feet spread far apart and their claw tips audibly sinking into the wood of the patio. A loud rumbling emanated from Perioul's throat, creature sounding even larger than it already was. Urlox chuckled at the lizard's attempt to intimate the dragon, knowing that he wouldn't follow through on the threat. Still, loyalty to his master obligated him to make the effort. "You haven't been paying attention to how the others have reacted to you, eh boy-o? Er, Drag-o...not to worry though. I haven't taken Syria for the faintin' type and I'm sure she'll take to you kindly once everything's explained. Come to think of it, from what I've heard she took in your metal friend with even less of an explanation" Urlox said, looking at Septimus from the corner of his vision. He looked forward when he heard the shifting of locks behind the doors, which parted thereafter. He saw the young woman's frozen, bewildered expression once she saw the snout of the Hueilin and smiled. "Syria? Meet Septimus. Septimus? Syria" he said just as Perioul took his opportunity to scurry past the inn keeper and bate a hasty retreat...

Upon entry into the burial ground, the soil around numerous grave markers seemed to pulsate rhythmically, like some mockery of a beating heart. The constant rising and falling ended abruptly when the dirt exploded outwards from forces unseen, and the edges of the crater collapsed. What was revealed was a blackened spiral stairway of stone heading right into the bowels of the unknown, thick scab-like growths spreading across the walls. Insects of all repulsive shapes arrived accompanied by a stench just as offensive, crawling out of the unnatural crypt and rotting away before the eyes of Tacitus and Makkus. It was as if the malignant entity was welcoming the council men into its abode on the mortal plane...

Vix looked up, releasing the kitten, who promptly ran off to presumably get into trouble. "Sure," she said, getting up. "I'm excited to break them in." She gave a slightly sadistic smile, showing a flare of the assassins' influence on her for just a moment. "Arsenic went to find Aviva," she added, "so wherever she is, he's bound to be there."

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Syria" growled Septimus courteously, smiling as he reached a clawed hand forward, the hand itself nearly the size of a grown man's torso...

"Wonderful" responded Andruil as he was told of Arsenic's departure. "Suppose we'll have to pick his bow up for him" said the Knight as he turned towards the door, eyeing the kitten as it scampered by eagerly, obviously devising something to preoccupy it while its 'mother' was off shopping. "How do you feel about Gryphons, by the way?" inquired Andruil as he stepped out the door, holding it open for Vix...

As the two Council members entered, a wave of cleansing energy flowed from the Vindicator's staff, bolstered by the Archknight's own field of cleansing energy as they descended, dissolving the rot and decay that surrounded them as they moved onwards, destroying any pestilent traps placed in their way before they even reached them...

"I've never really seen one up close, so I'm not sure," Vix said, stepping out of the room and reaching back to pull her auburn braid over her shoulder. She glanced back to make sure the kitten was still in their room - which it was, excitedly pouncing at what appeared to be a bit of dust. Her lips twitched as she suppressed a smile before she started down the hall. "I guess I'll find out soon though, since you're asking."

"We'll be riding them home as soon as we've finished our business here" said Andruil as he walked down the stairs, noticing the door was closed to the kitchen and a series of painful sounding thumps were audible from beyond. Deciding not to linger, he headed out into the street, heading for the Blacksmith...

There were no hidden threats to assault the two council men on their way down into the decay. Their energies parted grime and fleshy growths in their path, but upon their passing the repulsive environment reclaimed the stairs and walls. Pustules dotted the ceiling, wildly varying in sizes and severeness. Some were tiny boils were others were bloated, puss filled blobs that seemed ready to ooze corrosive filth from above, as if the entire crypt was a diseased and decomposing corpse...

Syria raised her hand tentatively, shifting her gaze from the dragon's black eyes to its talons repeatedly. "Like-Likewise...dragon..." she said finally grasping the tip of one of his claws cautiously and then doing her best to politely shake it. "Pardon me," she said after, grabbing Urlox by his chest plate and pulling him into the inn to speak to him in private. "Why is there a dragon outside my inn?!" she asked in a frantic, yet hushed tone. "He wanted to take a look at your books and travel-trinkets and what not" Urlox replied, his voice unhindered in any way. "His name is Septimus, by the way. Seeing as he's our first dragon...guest, I'm trying to make his visit a good one!"
"What about the other customers? I don't need any of them looking out their windows and-" Syria started to say, a shrill cry cutting her off. "...And panic" she concluded with a sigh, her face buried in her palm. She had a hard enough time dealing with her clients after Desrium's short stay, how was she going to handle this?
"Ah ha! Well lass, not to fear" Urlox said, patting the inn keeper on the shoulder and heading up the stairs just past Syria's book-piled desk, intending to deal with the issue himself. Syria looked through her spread fingers at the dragon mere feet away and sighed again. Seeing that there was nothing much she could do about the matter now, she approached the Hueilin and asked with a nervous smile "So...Septimus, how are you enjoying Daaven thus far?"

"Doesn't matter how many I kill....I can never get used to Pestilence Demons" said Makkus as he continued down the stairs. "It's part of their arsenal. Keep your focus. You'll be fine" responded Tacitus, the Archknight continuing into the depths of the decaying crypt...

"Oh, beautiful. This is definitely one of the more pleasant places I've visited" growled Septimus pleasantly as he glanced around at the surrounding buildings. "I'm sorry if my presence...inconveniences you. I admit I'm not the most....soothing of sights to have standing in front of your inn" he added, having heard the scream earlier. glancing down, he caught sight of a stray cat that was rummaging around between a few barrels by the inn, a small white mouse bolting out one end, the cat close behind...

The further down they went, the more disturbing the sights became. The blackened stone turned a shade of pink with splotches of deep reds, as if the hunters were moving through the innards of a creature. Adding to this was the fact the walls, floor and ceiling were gradually rounding off, becoming tubular and throat-like. Rank air surged back and forth around the Archknight and Vindicator like hollow breathing, creating an ominous wheezing sound and their footsteps made wet, squishing noises against the now moist, fleshy covering.

There were bleeding gashes in the walls, the scarlet streams moving along the downward path. The bumpy growths surrounding Tacitus and Makkus were contorted to look like the dismayed faces of the long deceased buried in the cemetery, clearly visible even though there was no light source to illuminate them. The disgusting mural was decorated with bones embedded in the flesh, ribs, femurs, skulls and vertebrae jumbled together in an ivory array. Discarded organs formed piles on either side of the pile, coated in mucus and being feasted upon by maggots. Despite their ravenous feeding, the worms never managed to consume any of the body parts laying around the crypt. Several yards further past the stomach churning displays seemed to be a door of some kind, black and studded with vein-like tendrils spreading across it like jungle vines...

"You're not so bad" Syria lied, not wanting to make the visiting dragon feel unwelcomed. "I'm sure everyone will be fine once they realize you aren't here to eat them" she added with a smile. "Urlox says you're into books...?" Syria said with a casual tone, though she couldn't believe that she was striking conversation with a fabled beast; though the Hueilin was hardly a beast at all.
