The trap worked. As Cyris moved to evade the jet of acidic saliva, the beast's club-tail swung round, hitting the girl side on, the long spikes on the club carving twin gashes across her stomach and back, only barely missing her spine, the blow nonetheless blowing her off her feet and into a nearby tree, a rattling snarl echoing all around her as the Wyvern once again disappeared...

In the distance a few miles from the beginning of the Forest, the first signs of Valenhad's forces could be seen exiting the mountain pass. platoons upon platoons of soldiers marched towards the shrine, hundreds, if not thousands of trained warriors making their way to the location their alliance was to assemble. Amidst them, a team of 20 men, clad in white and red armour, carrying the banner of the Black Hand, marched around the Commander of the army, Knight Commander Alexander, riding on drake-back, the man clad in silver armour, a black cloak wrapped over his shoulders, a longsword on his back. Immediately behind him, a platoon of 30 Silver Knights and 15 mages from the Council of Mercutio followed. Following behind them, groups of large 6 tusked mammoth-like beasts marched forward in groups of 4, each carrying siege engines on their back, their flanks protected with steel plates. In the air, a group of 10 large black Dragons flew over the army, flying in a circling formation over the army itself, as 4 groups of 3 smaller Dragons, most only slightly larger than a shire horse, flew ahead, scouting the land ahead of them to ensure all was clear for the army to advance. these smaller brown Dragons carried bird like features, including jagged, beak-like mouths that gave them a hawk-like appearance, and intense hawk-like eyes. their tails were long and slender, and ended in wide splaying fins that aided tremendously in aerial manoeuvrability. One scouting group flew past the Germanian army, measuring their forces and taking in details to deliver to the Knight Commander...It was clear that Valenhad was fully committed to winning this war at any cost...

Septimus meanwhile, had exited the temple and was descending towards the courtyard, eyeing Desrium and the Changeling curiously...

Cyris cursed aloud and pulled out her crossbow. Things just got serious in her mind. After the girl arose from the ground, she started loading the mechanical device. The elf was about to destroy this beast. She then attached the dagger to her weapon. She was now a killing machine, ready to fire at any direction that the beast came from. She eyed a patch of toadstools, hatching a plan...

"From one child of magic to another, I will impart part of my wisdom to you," Tzeentch explained mentally. After a few moments, a surge of memories, knowledge, and experiences bombarded the Blood Omen. Desrium would be able to sense the eons of life the changeling had endured, as well as experiencing a few key memories, such as her encounters with Eredar. The feelings of despair and fear from those memories were almost overwhelming.

The exchange left the Blood Omen enlightened. It was as if he had traveled back in time with Tzeentch and though it was only a small portion of the changeling's wisdom, he felt like he had lived far longer than eight centuries. His memories seemed to have expanded past the small fraction that he remembered of his own lifetime. After seeing her dreadful ordeal through his own mental vision, he knew his own fears were insignificant. No longer were the hooded ones who hunted him a threat. They could never do anything worse to him than what the Traitor had done to Aster. No longer were the spirits clinging to the area discomforting, for they were remnants of the tribulation. They served as motivation, so that the tragedy would not repeat itself.

"I thank you, and promise to use your gift to its fullest advantage" Desrium replied. It was clear that he had acquired a greater mental fortitude than that which he arrived on the shores with. It was stronger now than it was since he started his meditation. So much so that in the moments after the transfer was complete, the Blood Omen's draining influence ceased. If he were not in plain sight, nothing would know of his existence.

"We shall see," Tzeentch said out loud, before leaping backward off the stairs. One hand began to glow orange ominously, the changeling launching a fireball from the limb a split second later, aimed at Desrium's head.

Jiier turned back to the two with a start, jarred from his thoughts by the sudden aggression.

Falling back on his previous training, Desrium spun out of the way of the flaming orb and secured his footing thereafter. He assumed his combat stance, hands spaced apart on the grip of the spear, its double blades held upwards at a slight angle. His feet were also spaced apart, distributing his weight efficiently and allowing him the most mobility to dodge or attack...

Just as the fireball passed by Desrium, it exploded in a small burst of energy, large enough, however, to catch the Blood Omen's side.

Moving with the concussive force of the explosion, Desrium dived into a sideways roll, standing at its end. He then kicked off of the top of the stairs, spear held high as he hurtled at the changeling in a leap-strike.

Septimus watched interestedly as the Changeling and Blood Omen clashed, this particular form of sparring impressive, though he hoped for their sakes nothing was deflected at the temple, remembering Radamand's irritation at Jiier and Desrium's sparring session earlier...

No sooner had the girl begun loading her crossbow than a tree beside her exploded violently, splintering with the force of whatever had collided with it, a rattling snarl echoing on the wind...

With a gout of concussive force, Tzeentch threw herself to the side, avoiding the attack and launching another fireball against the Blood Omen's leg as he landed, throwing him off balance.

Desrium dropped into a crouch, bracing one gauntlet on the floor while holding the spear at his side with the other, steadying himself as the smoke cleared around him. Immediately after, he threw himself into another roll, expecting the changeling to attack while he recovered...

"Good, you didn't absorb them," Tzeentch said suddenly, straightening up as she leaned heavily on her staff once more. Her weakness seemed to increase after their small conflict. "There is hope for you yet."

The armored being sprung back to his feet and let down his defensive stance. "I have tamed my nature" Desrium replied simply, propping the spear against his robed shoulder.

Cyris quickly fired twice at the beast, soon afterwards running through the foliage of the forest. She noticed that the air felt more cool in this area, and she heard the movement of water before her path...

"So it seems," Tzeentch said with some effort, straightening up once again. "But it will not be so easy on the battlefield. You will be tempted in many different ways. You must learn to resist."

A rattling snarl rang out in Cyris's ears, just as the Wyvern seemingly materialised right in front of her, skeletal jaws open as a ragged, breath-like snarl was heard, drops of acidic saliva dripping from its mouth moments before it unleashed a jet directly at the oncoming elf...

Septimus watched intently, weighing his options. He could wait around until Desrium was done, or head down to Jiier and ask for sparring lessons from him. Or, he thought, he could chance the forest, and put himself to the test. Though Radamand himself had recommended against that action...

Desrium nodded and looked away from Tzeentch to the temple, wondering if he could ask to train around the powerful giant. His unrivaled power was indeed tempting, the Blood Omen's instinct to hunt and absorb mana never restrained before now. He saw Septimus at the top of the steps and saw a better opportunity present itself however. Training around his friend would be a test of his will to not feed off of his mana, but the ability to not impede on Septimus' own progress without distancing himself was something he truly desired...

The elf jumped to the left and avoided the acid, but he was still in front of the beast. Cyris shot an arrow into the beast's foot, hoping to slow it down. This wyvern was tough to handle. The woman looked at the wyvern in the eyes, raising her dagger over her head and bringing it down quickly...

"I'm getting too old for this..." Tzeentch muttered to herself as she climbed the stairs once again, heading back into the temple with some aid from her staff.

Jiier was caught off guard by the sudden sparring, but then again, a lot of things didn't make sense these days. The maned dragon was used to it by now, and instead continued to stare off into the forest, his body almost completely dry by now, due to the extreme heat he emits regularly.

"Learning how to resist temptation, eh Desrium?" said Septimus with a smile as he approached the Blood Omen, pleased with his progress...

The beast snarled as the bolt hit it in the foot, locking its gaze on the girl as she raised her dagger, swinging it massive arm into her as she did so, sending her tumbling away with such force she would be lucky not to have broken several bones. a rattling snarl came from the beast as it leapt into the air, disappearing into a cloud of smoke, total silence taking over in the aftermath. There was no telling if the beast was truly gone, and now, it seemed it had grown tired of its opponent...If she were to persist, it would likely be the last thing she ever did...
